The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson as the titular superhero and Zoe Kravitz as his foil, Catwoman, is currently dominating at the box office.

Kravitz, 33, has been receiving high praise for her portrayal of the sultry villain but she recently revealed that this was her second go-around at the role.

A decade ago, Zoe was rejected from playing Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises for being ‘too urban,’ the star told to The Observer.

‘I don’t know if it came directly from Chris Nolan,’ Kravitz said. ‘I think it was probably a casting director of some kind, or a casting director’s assistant.’

She recalled: ‘Being a woman of color and being an actor and being told at that time that I wasn’t able to read because of the color of my skin, and the word urban being thrown around like that, that was what was really hard about that moment.’

The Nolan directed flick ultimately featured Anne Hathaway in the Catwoman role.

The casting team may be experiencing some regret now that Kravitz finally landed the roll ten years later.

During its opening weekend the likes of Taylor Swift took to social media to heap praise on her performance in the action film.

The 32-year-old singer took to her Instagram story on Sunday morning, sharing an in-theater snap of Kravitz as Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman.

She also tagged Kravitz in her post, calling her the, ‘Catwoman of dreams,’ while calling The Batman movie itself, ‘phenomenal.’

Swift is far from the first to praise The Batman, which is sitting on a strong 85% Fresh rating from 364 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film has also easily become the biggest film of the year at the box office with a huge opening weekend of $128.5 million.

The Batman has already surpassed the only other $100 million movie of the year, Sony’s Uncharted, which has earned $100.2 million from three weeks in theaters.

The Matt Reeves-directed Batman film also raked it in overseas, with an estimated foreign haul of $120 million for a global opening weekend take of $248.5 million.

The film follows Batman (Robert Pattinson) in his second year protecting Gotham City from the criminal underworld, as she crosses paths with the mysterious Catwoman (Kravitz).

The film also stars Jeffrey Wright as Lt. James Gordon, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler and John Turturro as Carmine Falcon.

It’s also the only second pandemic-era movie to cross the $100million mark in a single weekend, a feat first achieved by Spider-Man: No Way Home, which launched last December to a historic $260 million.

The film’s release in Russia was notably scrapped at the last minute after the invasion of Ukraine.

The movie also remains unreleased in China, one of the world’s largest markets, and it will make its debut on March 14.
