MARISA, 26

Dating Past?

VITAL STATISTICS

Single.

CURRENT ROLE

PR account manager.

WOULD LIKE TO MEET

Someone outgoing and passionate who can put up with my spontaneity. I’m talkative so they have to be able to hold their own.

My longest relationship was probably three months. I’ve had a couple of will they/won’t they ‘situationships’, but as we all know those tend to end poorly.

I’ve been on a few dates since moving to London in August last year, but nothing has stuck yet.

Pre-Date Nerves?

I’m an extrovert so I wasn’t nervous. I was wearing my favourite trousers and I loved my outfit.

First Impressions?

The initial thing I noticed was that he was shorter than he said he was. From our very first interaction, I had a feeling he wasn’t for me. We hugged hello but I didn’t feel we connected at all.

He was wearing a white shirt and very tight trousers, and he really wasn’t my type. I like someone a bit rougher around the edges, like Kit Harington in Game Of Thrones.

His trousers were too tight — and he didn’t eat any of the bread!

Easy To Talk To?

He was easy enough to talk to, but fairly soon I wondered how quickly I could eat my food and get away. We had nothing in common.

MARISA’S VERDICT: 4/10

LIKED? He didn’t push when I said I was leaving.

REGRETS? None.

COFFEE OR CAB? Cab in 6th gear

My first red flag was when I ordered the salted sourdough and I was the only one to eat it. Presumably he doesn’t eat carbs — but at least I got to take the rest home. He had his steak well-done, which was weird given he’s a chef.

The date was awkward but he still asked me what I thought about a second date. I said I felt we weren’t a match, but he asked for my number anyway. I’m not sure he heard me!

Embarrassing Moments?

In the middle of the meal, he took a phone call and left the table. I got talking to the people at the table beside me, who were from my hometown of Washington DC, and I had a better conversation with them. He never explained who the call was from or why he had taken it.

Did Sparks Fly?

Sadly, there was no chemistry, either physically or from a personality point of view. He talked about the gym being one of his hobbies and I got the vibe that he may not appreciate my body type.

Would you like to meet again?

Nope, I’m good, thanks.

What do you think he thought of you?

It’s hard to say. I didn’t sense him flirting, yet he suggested a second date. Strange, when the first date only lasted as long as it took to eat the meal.

Would your family and friends like him?

He’s different from my friends, so I’m not sure.

SEZER, 33

Dating Past?

VITAL STATISTICS

Single.

CURRENT ROLE

Chef and model.

WOULD LIKE TO MEET

I like outgoing women who are spontaneous and sexy. My favourite celebrity crush would be Kim Kardashian.

I’ve recently split up from my very first girlfriend. We parted ways years ago, but then met up again in 2020 to give things another go. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.

I’ve been single for a couple of years now. I don’t really do online dating because it’s like talking to robots — you never seem to speak to real people.

Pre-Date Nerves?

I had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction. I’d brought my trousers to wear for the date to change into after work but they didn’t fit, so I had to quickly run around the shops to find some new ones.

First Impressions?

Marisa was warm and friendly and seemed to be pretty fun, but she wasn’t my type at all. I got up and gave her a hug and a kiss when she arrived and we started chatting quite easily.

Easy To Talk To?

She’s quite loud and into politics… and I’m not

It was like I knew her already: we had a few drinks and chatted like friends.

SEZER’S VERDICT: 5/10

LIKED? Her American accent.

REGRETS? None — not all dates work out.

COFFEE OR CAB? Cab.

We didn’t share much common ground though, so our conversation never got very deep. She’s quite loud and into politics and I’m not, so it was hard to find things to discuss.

That said, there were no awkward silences and we had a few laughs.

Embarrassing Moments?

Not really, other than us both knowing that there was no chemistry between us.

Did Sparks Fly?

I’m a flirty person but it was clear that neither of us could be bothered as we had nothing in common. That level of interest wasn’t there.

We still had a fun time though. I don’t go on many dates, so even though there was no spark between us, I was buzzing afterwards and couldn’t sleep from all the adrenaline.

Would you like to meet again?

I did message her afterwards to check that she got home OK, but she didn’t reply.

What do you think she thought of you?

There was no flirting, and she didn’t answer my message, so it’s safe to say that we didn’t hit it off.

Would your family and friends like her?

She says she’s a people person, so she’d get on with most people.
