ARAR, the government-owned business in charge of selling all the surplus military equipment left behind after the war, was his principal supply.

Ferruccio designed a revolutionary tractor that he could sell all throughout Italy by converting an ancient British Morris engine to run on cheap diesel instead of pricey gasoline.

This was the first of his ‘Carioca’ tractors, which he debuted on February 3rd, 1948, and which caused a stir in Italy.

Despite this, Trattori’s business was thriving, and by 1950, the company had grown to 30 employees and was able to reduce up to 200 tractors per year.

Demand was increasing rapidly, so Ferruccio purchased 1,000 m2 of property in 1951 and erected a factory on it.

The L33 tractor was introduced in 1951, and its popularity benefited tremendously from government subsidies for farmers who employed domestically-built machinery.

Lamborghini’s tractor plant had 400 employees by the early 1960s, and was producing up to 30 tractors each day.

Ferruccio debuted a separate oil-heater business in 1961, and by then he had amassed enough wealth to indulge in his passion for sports automobiles.
