Two zookeepers were killed by tigers in separate attacks in China this week, state media reported.

The first attack occurred Sunday at the Zhanggongshan Zoo in the eastern Anhui province, the state-run Global Times reported.

The 55-year-old zoo employee, who was only identified by their last name Yang, was mauled to death as he was cleaning the tiger’s cage, according to the report.

Then on Tuesday, police were forced to intervene when two tigers on loan from a circus attacked an employee during feeding time at Danjiang Peacock Valley in central Henan province, Beijing News reported.

When the tigers escaped their enclosure at the park, they were shot dead by authorities, state broadcaster CCTV reported.

The zookeeper, who was only identified by their last name Jia, was rushed to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to reports.

Authorities are investigating the park and have ordered it to suspend operations, CCTV reported.
