‘First of all, lousy song choice,’ Keith joked, after Freddie finished his audition.

‘I don’t know what you were thinking… No, but thank you so much for singing that song.’

Fellow coach Jessica Mauboy, eager for Freddie to join her team, watched on as Keith took to the stage after asking the boy from Tamworth whether he could join him for a duet.

‘How do I compete with that? Seriously!’ she said.

‘Dream come true, hey?’ she said, as the pair finished their duet to rapturous applause from the studio audience.

The drama continued on The Voice on Tuesday night when Guy Sebastian moved the other coaches to tears when he also performed with a superfan.

After her audition, singer Alisha George explained how the 40-year-old’s music had helped her bond with her disabled brother.

A deeply moved Guy then asked Alisha if he could perform alongside her for her brother, who was standing off stage with their parents.
