Sophie recently revealed she wants to move back to her native England for the sake of her mental health.

Sophie is adamant that she wants to raise her young family in the UK, but admitted that her American husband will need ‘a bit of convincing’ to make the transatlantic move.

Speaking to Elle UK about her big plans, Sophie said: ‘I miss England so much. The people, the attitude, everything. I’m slowly dragging my husband back.

‘I really love living in America but, for my mental health, I have to be around my friends and my family.’

The performer added that she would also love for her daughter to have the English education she was so ‘lucky’ to have.

Despite making a life in Miami, homesick Sophie’s heart still yearns for England, but the same can’t be said for her Arizona-born husband of three years.

She added to the publication: ‘England would ideally be the final destination, but [Joe] might take quite a bit of convincing! My parent’s house is the epitome of the English countryside – horses, sheep, cows…’

The X-Men: Dark Phoenix star went on to say that she still manages to get her hands from her British treats from home, such as her beloved Bisto gravy, commenting that American goods are ‘not the same’.

Sophie has previously opened up about her mental health issues in the past, noting that her now husband ‘saved her’ when they first met.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, Sophie candidly recalled: ‘I was going through this phase of being very mentally unwell. He was, like, “I can’t be with you until you love yourself.

””I can’t see you love me more than you love yourself.” That was something, him doing that. I think he kind of saved my life, in a way.’

Back in 2019, the actress also discussed her battle with depression and anxiety, admitting that her parents didn’t understand why she went to therapy while noting that the UK often ‘lags behind’ the US when it comes to mental health.

She told NET-A-PORTER’s digital magazine, PorterEdit: ‘My parents are still like, “Why do you go to therapy?” and I’m like, “Because I’m depressed, remember?” It’s a very British thing – that idea you should just get on with it, ‘chin up’.

‘Therapy is seen as a bit self-indulgent, a bit soft. But therapy and medication have helped me immeasurably,’ she confessed.

Discussing on wanting to destigmatize mental health problems, Sophie revealed: ‘The first step to any kind of movement is just to put it out there, talk about it and make it less of a taboo so that people can go and get help and not feel embarrassed to do so.

‘People feel so much shame about it, so if, by talking about it, I can even have an impact on one person, that would be awesome.’

The film star also revealed that year that she was forced to turn to therapy when film and TV studios pressured her to lose weight amid her woes.

Opening up to Marie Claire Australia, she said: ”Everyone needs a therapist, especially when people are constantly telling you you’re not good enough and you don’t look good enough.

‘I think it’s necessary to have someone to talk to and to help you through that.’

Sophie however, did not specify which film or TV studios pressured her to lose weight.

In 2013, she appeared in the Spanish-British thriller Another Me, in 2015, appeared in the action film Barely Lethal, and in 2016, appeared in the hit film X-Men: Apocalypse.

Sophie added to the publication that she found it hard to grow up on screen on HBO’s Game of Thrones, where she plays Sansa Stark, having starred on the show since she was just 13 years old.

‘My metabolism suddenly decided to fall to the depths of the ocean and I started to get spotty and gain weight, and all of this was happening to me on camera,’ Sophie said.

She said that everyone on social media would have an opinion of her, and she found it particularly hard.
