Cutting a stylish figure in a blue trouser suit, Oti was discussing her new dating show with hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, along with her upcoming solo tour I Am Here.

She explained: ‘It was meant to be a few years ago but was delayed, it will be so nice to just go out and dance.

‘I get to talk about my story coming from South Africa. I Am Here is my name translated and it will be an intimate revelation of who I am.’

Of her new dating series, she added: ‘It is a dating show that has a little bit to do with singing. It’s just a fun Saturday night show… It felt good to be a part of it.

‘It’s one person, they stand on a balcony and then four random people come in, but there’s a wall between them. They have no idea what that person looks like, so all they have to go by is their voice.

‘So if they like it, then they step down and this whole thing happens. The set was amazing – the wall goes up.

‘And they go on their first date which is a duet rehearsal. We have four couples, they all compete and the audience votes for the best couple with the best chemistry.’

Romeo and Duet gives its singers just one song to entice a singleton down from the balcony. Only then will the two come face-to-face for the first time.

The newly formed couple will then head off on a duet-date to learn a duet, before returning later in the show to perform that number in the ultimate romantic love battle; a singing competition against the other couples to be crowned the winners.

The crowd’s chosen couple then get whisked off for another date to see if love can truly blossom.

Throughout the series Oti is joined on stage by musical director Vikki Stone and her sensational live band Vikki Stone & The Heartbeats, who provide the perfect soundtrack for each sizzling performance.

As Oti also appeared alongside the cast of Cher: The Musical, she was then given a surprise reunion with Bill, sparking the pair to launch into a fun rendition of the viral dance Gangnam Style.

Bill then offered his thoughts on Will’s angry reaction to Chris’ joke about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith during the Oscars, where he angrily slapped the comic before shouting: ‘Keep my wife’s name out of your f*****g mouth.’

In the week, Will has announced his resignation from the Academy, amid calls for him to be stripped of his Best Actor Oscar, which he received mere minutes after slapping Chris.

Asked about the display, Bill told Alison and Dermot: ‘I think that there were other issues going on there. There was baggage between the two of them. They were both at fault. It was a bad joke and insensitive but there is no excuse to hit him.

‘It didn’t warrant the hit, it was totally out of order, it crossed a line. I won’t be doing any jokes about Jada that’s for sure!’

On Friday, Will resigned from The Academy calling his actions during the ceremony ‘shocking, painful and inexcusable,’ adding that he would accept any additional consequences issued by the Academy’s Board of Governors.

‘The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home,’ Smith said. ‘I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken.’

Will sent shockwaves around the world when he slapped Chris after the comedian made a bald head joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who has spoken about losing her hair due to alopecia.

The Fresh Prince star issued a public apology to Chris – saying that his behaviour was ‘unacceptable and inexcusable’.

The star wrote in an Instagram post that he was ’embarrassed’ by his actions, which shocked the ceremony attendees, producers and viewers, and sparked a furious debate that divided both A-listers and spectators alike.

‘Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive,’ he wrote.

‘My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.

‘I would like to publicly apologise to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.’

Will then went on to say sorry to the organisers and the producers of the show.

Chris has not responded to Will’s apology and the comedian has yet to publicly comment on the incident – however it was revealed in the hours after the slap that he had chosen not to file a police report against the actor.
