A sheriff’s deputy in Oregon was shot dead in an apartment complex, according to reports.
The unidentified officer died Friday night at the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, The Oregonian reported.
“It is with great sadness the Clark County Sheriff’s Office is informing the community a deputy was killed in the line of duty this evening,” a statement from the sheriff’s office read.
Police detained two people and were still searching for a third suspect, as of Friday evening.
The Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency warned residents of a “heavy law enforcement response” around The Pointe Apartments.
The agency said law enforcement was seeking three suspects — two Hispanic men and one Hispanic woman — who “may be armed and dangerous.”
Sgt. Brett Waddell, spokesman for the sheriff, declined to detail how the shooting happened, according to The Oregonian.
