An apparent explosion rocked an apartment complex in Georgia Sunday afternoon — causing multiple injuries and trapping some residents, according to local reports and witnesses.
The blast occurred at Arrive Perimeter apartment complex in Dunwoody, where videos from the scene shared on social media showed severe structural damage to the building.
There are multiple injuries, a police spokeswoman told CBS 46, though details were unclear. It’s also not known whether there are any fatalities.
The cause remains under investigation, according to the Dunwoody Police Department, who confirmed the explosion in a tweet.
“At 1:24 pm, we received calls regarding an explosion at the Arrive Apartments,” police wrote. “We are on scene with the Dekalb Co. and Sandy Springs Fire Dept. This is a very active scene and the cause of the explosion is under investigation.”
One Twitter user claimed that there are people trapped inside.
The scene remains “very active” according to Dunwoody police. Updates are expected from the Dekalb County Fire Rescue.
Neighboring response teams from Brookhaven asked drivers to clear the roadways to the area.
