Michael Mosley shares healthy & low carb but ‘filling’ meal plan for weight loss


Dr Michael Mosley often shares his weight loss tips with slimmers online as well as on television. He is the creator of The Fast 800 – a diet plan that helps people lose weight quickly.

He previously told Express.co.uk: “The Mediterranean diet is the healthiest diet on the planet.

“There is this perception that Italian food is predominantly pasta and pizza, but that is not true.

“It’s actually packed with fruit, vegetables, nuts, olive oil and fish – all of which are good for you and have been proven to prevent dementia, strokes, cardiovascular disease, heart disease and even in some cases, been known to reverse type two diabetes.”

As a result of this knowledge, Dr Mosley incorporates the Mediterranean diet into his daily routine and usually sticks to the same foods.

He added: “I try to avoid snacks generally but if I do occasionally indulge, it might be on something reasonably healthy like a handful of nuts.

“My wife Clare makes these wonderful sugar free chocolate brownies that contain beetroot and dates.

“They are pretty hard to resist but thankfully, they’re guilt-free.

“I try and drink plenty of water throughout the day and I avoid sugary drinks.

“I might add a slice of lemon or cucumber to my water to liven it up.”

Of his Fast 800 recipes, Dr Mosley’s favourite is “the turmeric roasted cauliflower with dhal” because “it’s filling, moderately low carb and a great source of plant protein and gut friendly fibre”.

The nutrition expert added: “We also eat a lot of fermented food like sauerkraut and kimchi.

“I have got into the habit of adding sauerkraut to almost all meals, including my eggs in the morning, salmon at lunch and then also on most evening meals too.”
