MasterChef Australia viewers go wild for contestant John Carasig after he bizarrely compares his dessert to rappers Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj
MasterChef Australia viewers were immensely amused after contestant John Carasig compared his dessert dish to hitmakers Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj.
John, who is returning as a ‘favourites’ team member this series, made the reference while making his dusty pink white chocolate mousse during Tuesday’s episode.
The Victorian cook was questioning the ‘hero’ component of raspberry, which didn’t feature heavily enough in the dish.
Too cool: MasterChef viewers have gone wild for John Carasig (pictured) after he bizarrely compared his dessert to Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj during a service challenge on Tuesday night
‘If I was to buy, say, a new single by Doja Cat and it’s featuring Nicki Minaj, like, I don’t want Nicki Minaj throughout the whole song, I’m buying it because of Doja Cat,’ he said, in a piece to camera.
Twitter erupted with delight over the odd comparison with fans quick to have a lighthearted laugh at the bizarre comparison.
‘Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj references from John?!? Iconic,’ one fan wrote.

‘Not John shading Nicki Minaj LMFAO,’ another added.

‘LOL. I never thought I’d hear a Doja Cat-Nicki Minaj analogy on MasterChef,’ another social media user wrote.
Dish: John and his team were preparing a dusty pink white chocolate mousse (pictured) that he strangely compared to the two rappers
‘The mirror glaze is so pleasingly perfect and just the construction of the mousse, all very nice. However, I’m not getting a lot of raspberry,’ judge Melissa Leong (right) said. Pictured with fellow judge Jock Zonfrillo
Despite the dish looking delicious once constructed, John was right to worry, with the judges concerned about it not meeting the brief.
‘The mirror glaze is so pleasingly perfect and just the construction of the mousse, all very nice. However, I’m not getting a lot of raspberry,’ Melissa Leong said.
‘Yeah. The frozen coulis, I thought that might be the saving grace in terms of featuring raspberry. But the flavour of it was rosewater forward,’ Andy Allen added.
Having a laugh: Fans went wild over the reference to the American musicians
‘The only raspberry that I’m getting in any kind of volume is the three raspberries that were on the plate fresh,’ Jock Zonfrillo agreed.
Unfortunately, the favourites team faced a losing dish with the fans team able to take home the win for the dish.
‘Only one team nailed the brief,’ Andy said, before calling out the fans as the winners.
