For her TV parody, Kelly was singing one of Tammy Faye’s actual stage numbers, Jesus Keeps Takin’ Me Higher And Higher.

When a makeup lady asks if she wants ‘a little remover’ for her eyelashes, Kelly as Tammy Faye replies: ‘Oh, no, that’s it. I mean, they’re permanently lined and my eyes are permanently line and my eyebrows are permanently on so there’s not a whole lot you can do. This is who I am!’

The sequence is a send-up of a scene in The Eyes Of Tammy Faye where the 1980s superstar televangelist, as played by Jessica, explains her look.

‘Oh, no,’ says Tammy Faye in response to the question about remover, ‘that’s it. That’d be all. They’re permanently lined. Yeah, my eyes a permanently lined and my eyebrows are permanently on so there’s not a whole lot you can do.’

‘My goodness, I didn’t know,’ says the woman behind the camera. ‘Have you never done pictures without those eyelashes?’

‘No, nope,’ replies Tammy Faye, shaking her head, ‘and I never will because that’s my trademark and, you know, if I take that away then it’s not me. And no one’s gonna wanna look at me without my trademark so I hold onto that.’

The other woman floats the idea of trying to ‘soften ’em up,’ but Tammy Faye says: ‘No, no, you can do anything you want but my eyelashes stay right where they are.’
