Dr Biden and her husband, US President Joe Biden, arrived in the UK on Wednesday ahead of the G7 summit this weekend. The couple met with Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie on Thursday.
During the meet up, the First Lady wore a black jacket with the word “love” outlined on the back in silver beading.
Speaking to reporters about her fashion choice, Dr Biden said: “We’re bringing love from America.
“This is a global conference and we are trying to bring unity across the globe and I think it’s needed right now, that people feel a sense of unity from all the countries and feel a sense of hope after this year of the pandemic.”
Ms Trump famously wore an olive green jacket with a much less positive message on the back in white which read: “I really don’t care.”

According to the New York Times, when asked to comment on the matter, Dr Biden’s spokesperson only referred to what the First Lady had told reporters on Thursday.
However, despite Dr Biden’s refusal to say whether the jacket was a subtle jab at Ms Trump, social media users praised the First Lady for her outfit choice.
One Twitter user wrote: “Great bit of Melania-trolling from Jill Biden today, arriving with ‘LOVE’ on the back of her jacket instead of ‘I Really Don’t Care Do U?’”
Another user posted: “This is how a 1st lady is supposed to act. Respectful and classy. And with Jill, she also brings love. I’m so proud she represents our country.”
A third Twitter user said: “I love that our Flotus is bold enough to wear a garment that counters the hurt that Melania caused with her ‘I don’t care’ garment. Stellar move.”
