Il Divo star Carlos Marin's ex-wife shares heartfelt tributes to the singer

The ex-wife of Il Divo star Carlos Marin, who died from Covid in a Manchester hospital, has spoken about her loss, saying she ‘feels like an orphan’ without him. 

Geraldine Larrosa, who remained very close to the Spanish baritone despite their 2009 divorce, has shared videos, photos and written tributes to Carlos on Instagram.

The actress and singer, 44, known by her stage name Innocence, revealed after Carlos’ death that they had planned to remarry. The couple first tied the knot in a Disneyland wedding in 2006.

It comes ahead of the two month anniversary of his death, which shook the music industry and devastated fans around the world. Carlos died after contracting Covid while on tour with Il Divo, despite being fully vaccinated.

In another, Geraldine shared: ‘For you I will fight. I will continue singing for you!… Today the Sun shines as you liked it and for you I will shine, and for me, too… I fight as you have taught me to go forward! The show must go on.’

Geraldine previously nine-year-old daughter Scarlett by her ex Sergio Arce regarded Carlos, who was her godfather, as her ‘second dad.’

The singer phoned his ex-wife from hospital to say goodbye in his final days in hospital.  

Geraldine said at the time: ‘Before being intubated he said goodbye to me because he knew he wasn’t going to pull through and it was the saddest image in my life. 

‘He called me and told me he loved me like mad and that I was the woman of his life and asked me to take care of his family.’ 

Il Divo, which was previously signed to Simon Cowell’s SyCo label, had been on a UK tour when Marin was admitted to hospital.

Shortly before his death, he shared a selfie video from beside a pool in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria, to promote the final leg of the tour.

He then performed in Southend, Bournemouth and Brighton – when he posted an an Instagram video which showed him looking healthy while talking enthusiastically about the upcoming performance.

Il Divo’s concert in Bath on December 6 was the last time he was seen on stage and he was admitted to hospital two days later.

Gigs in Hull and Nottingham were called off and on December 10, Il Divo announced all subsequent shows had been postponed until 2022.

He was subsequently put into a medically induced coma and hooked up to breathing machines. 

Carlos died in hospital on December 19, aged 53.
