Shelden Riley is set to make quite the spectacle as he represents Australia at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy, next week.

The Voice star will perform his emotionally-charged single Not The Same, wearing a custom-made outfit by Melbourne couturier Alin Le’Kal.

Weighing a hefty 38 kilograms, Alin’s extravagant creation took almost 2,500 hours to create and features over 90,000 pearls, crystals and feathers.

The all-white ensemble also boasts voluminous sleeves, balloon suit pants and a dramatic feather-lined cape.

The sheer weight of Sheldon’s outfit also meant he was forced to purchase extra baggage at the airport when travelling to Turin ahead of Eurovision this month.

‘This design was something different to what Sheldon usually wears. He usually goes for black and dark colours, but this time we wanted to go for an angelic look, lots of white. Something avant garde and otherworldly,’ Alin exclusively told Daily Mail Australia.

‘We tried to make it look as masculine as possible, while still giving it a modern edge because [Sheldon] likes to push boundaries,’ he added.

Alin, who famously appeared on Real Housewives of Melbourne, was approached by Sheldon’s management to create his Eurovision costume less than two months ago.

[Sheldon] was an admirer of the brand for a while and wanted me to dress him,’ Alin explained.

‘It’s such a treat to work with an artist who pushes boundaries, especially in Australia. Australia isn’t really on the world stage for avant garde fashion – so it’s great to put this design out there.’

While Alin is based in Victoria, his designs can be found in exclusive boutiques across the globe, including in Paris.

He also recently opened his newest store in Melbourne’s South Yarra.

Over the years, he has amassed an international celebrity following, dressing the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Scherzinger, Kelly Rowland, Paris Hilton, Julia Morris and Sophie Monk.

It comes as Sheldon prepares to compete for the first time in Eurovision next week.

Sheldon, who is known for his flamboyant fashion sense, rose to fame on The Voice Australia in 2018, and ultimately came third in the competition.

Speaking to Eurovision World about his song Not The Same, Sheldon explained:  ‘I wrote the song myself. It’s a storytelling song. I haven’t looked into what sort of success people have had writing their own song, but I didn’t want anyone else writing it for me.

‘It’s dark, it’s orchestral, it has this big moment. I’ve been telling people to just be prepared. It builds and then visually there’s this massive thing that happens, that gives an answer. And helps people understand me.’

Sheldon went on to reveal that the message of his song is to ‘stand for what you believe in because we’re not the same and that’s okay.’

Eurovision will be held in Turin, Italy from May 11-14.
