News emerged last week that Abramovich had listed the club for sale following the outbreak of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The news produced shockwaves across west London, with Chelsea becoming one of the continent’s most successful clubs under his leadership.

The Blues were set to look for a new owner after it appeared Abramovich’s 19-year spell as owner was set to come to an end.

But Thursday morning saw the UK Government sanction Abramovich as officials look to clamp down on Russian relations following the conflict that continues to burn on in Ukraine.

And one of those sanctions means that Chelsea are not even allowed to sell tickets – with only season ticket holders being able to attend fixtures.
