London City and Southampton were joint third with a score of 77 in the survey of 7,500 travellers.
Guy Hobbs, the editor of Which? Travel said: “This year we’ve witnessed unprecedented chaos at many of the UK’s largest airports.
“Travellers reported extensive queues and unhelpful staff, with resources pushed to breaking point.
“Just a few years ago travellers may have paid little attention to their choice of airport but now it may just make or break your trip.”
Manchester Airport has apologised over the results of the survey, stating that coming out of lockdown had left it facing “unprecedented challenges as demand returned rapidly to the market”.
