Bob the dog is only pup left at adoption day as others find homes: 'He's incredibly sweet'

An adorable pooch named Bob has gone viral online – after he was rejected at a doggy adoption day. The three-year-old Terrier mix is described as “incredibly sweet” but felt overwhelmed at the event, according to foster mum Julie Zeilinger. She believes prospective adopters gave Bob space as a result.

But that may well be the best thing that could have happened to Bob, who became an internet sensation overnight.

Now, hundreds are sharing their interest in becoming Bob’s new parent, Julie says.

He is named after superhero Mr Incredible – Robert ‘Bob’ Parr – from Pixar film The Incredibles. This is due to his “super strength”, a bio on Petfinder.com says.

Julie, who has a permanent dog of her own called Baloo, shared her joy about the outpouring of love on Instagram.

She wrote: “It’s so nice that so many people care about Bob.

“Literally hundreds are reaching out about adopting him because of this video…”

Bob’s PetFinder.com bio explains: “He was unfortunately dropped off at the shelter, along with his puppies, on one of our rescue trips.

“But given his super strength, we know he’ll be able to put the past behind him and become the perfect companion he was always destined to be.”

Bob has been neutered and is ready for a new home. He weighs 10 pounds.

Julie said in an update on TikTok on Monday: “He often struggles to stay awake and has the cutest little butt pop when he’s feeling frisky.”

He also likes to spend a lot of time on the settee.

Bob currently resides at Badass Animal Shelter in Brooklyn, Central Park, New York.

She said that he came to the shelter from Georgia in June and has been with her and her family ever since.
