Anthony Joshua exposed for doing the same as Tyson Fury in fight talks – 'Been in touch'

Anthony Joshua’s team began talks to face Otto Wallin while negotiations were still ongoing with Tyson Fury. AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn previously blamed Fury for the all-British showdown falling through as he had approached other rivals, but it appears Hearn did the same.

“At the weekend, or Friday, Derek Chisora received a contract for the Tyson Fury fight,” Hearn said in a video posted on the Matchroom Boxing YouTube channel. “So have other fighters, so in our mind, he’s not fighting Anthony Joshua.

“Don’t blame Anthony Joshua for Tyson Fury pulling the plug twice on this fight,” Hearn added.

However, Wallin (24-1) confirmed that he was discussed as a possible next opponent for Joshua but has not had an update for a while. The Swede fought Joshua twice in the amateurs losing both by decision and is keen to avenge his losses in the paid ranks.

“I think I can [upset the odds], me and Joshua we had two good fights in the amateurs where I lost decisions, but it was very close, and I feel like it could have gone either way in both fights and after that we sparred when he fought Charles Martin,” Wallin continued.

“Lately, I feel like I’ve got better whereas I feel he’s lost some confidence and he hasn’t really been the same lately. I feel I have the tools to beat him. He knows it will be a tough fight for him because we have sparred before, we’ve fought before, I have a big heart, I’m a skilful fighter and I’m a southpaw also.”
