Adam Sandler has given new details about his upcoming project with Josh and Benny Safdie, who he worked with on the critically-acclaimed 2019 film Uncut Gems.
‘I’m going to do a movie with the Safdie brothers and we’re supposed to start in the late winter, right,’ the 56-year-old actor told Vanity Fair Tuesday.

The latest: Adam Sandler, 56, has given new details about his upcoming project with Josh and Benny Safdie, who he worked with on the critically-acclaimed 2019 Uncut Gems. He was pictured earlier this month in LA
‘Once that Safdie brothers movie starts – and I love those guys, I know we’re going to dedicate ourselves into working our a**es off and making sure it’s as good as it can be, and I know that takes a lot of time,’ Sandler said. ‘So part of my brain is going, “Wow, once that movie starts I’m in deep and our lives are going to change.”
‘Like everybody, when you work hard you’re tired, you’re knocked out, and you miss out on some stuff that you wish you could’ve seen.
‘But ultimately, I know it’s going to be a few months of going after a goal that we all feel the same about. We want to do the best we can.’
Sandler said that he was anticipating a creative process as intense as Uncut Gems ‘because of how much these guys care’ and how he doesn’t ‘want to let them down.

The Saturday Night Live alum said that he had reminiscences of working on the NBC variety show in his collaboration with the brothers
Sandler played the role of Howard Ratner in the Safdies-directed drama Uncut Gems
‘I see how hard they work, and just like when I’m working on my comedies with my friends, it means a lot to us,’ said Sandler, who played the role of Howard Ratner in the drama. ‘Every joke means a lot. The Safdie boys, every word means a lot to them, every frame of the movie means a lot. So I don’t want to walk through anything. I care about it, and I respect those guys so much.’
The Saturday Night Live alum said that he had reminiscences of working on the NBC variety show in his collaboration with the brothers through the creative and promotional process for Uncut Gems, which garnered award season buzz upon its debut nearly three years ago.
‘I just remember that whole process was fun,’ Sandler said. ‘Getting to know those guys, getting to be with those guys, it kind of felt like the old days, like early Saturday Night Live, hanging out with a group, going places together, believing in a project together. I just felt like I had great teammates there.’
Over the past few years, Sandler has starred in films such as 2020’s Hubie Halloween and 2022’s Hustle. He’s slated to appear next year in the sci-fi drama Spaceman opposite Paul Dano and Carey Mulligan.
